Ray DeFrain is Manager of Regional Metallurgy and Medical Subject Matter Expert for Carpenter Technology. Ray is a seasoned metallurgist with a passion for developing innovative customer solutions. With a bachelor’s degree in Physics and a master’s degree in Material Science, Ray brings a unique blend of academic knowledge and practical expertise to the field. Over the past 18 years, Ray has specialized in titanium, iron, cobalt and nickel-based products, working across Carpenter Technology’s entire alloy portfolio. As the company’s subject matter expert in materials and processes for medical applications, Ray collaborates closely with medical contract manufacturers, OEMs and tiered suppliers to support the needs of the medical market.
