Niall Casey is the Chief Intellectual Property Officer and co‑founder of Carlsmed. In his role, he leads the company’s innovation and intellectual property strategy and plays a critical part in guiding technology development. He also serves on Carlsmed’s Board of Directors, contributing to the company’s long-term strategic direction.
At Carlsmed, Niall has been instrumental since the company’s founding in 2018, helping to build the organization’s technology foundation and intellectual property portfolio. The company leverages advanced data and AI-enabled solutions to design patient-specific implants and surgical plans aimed at improving clinical outcomes and reducing the need for revision surgery. His leadership continues to drive innovation in personalized medicine and spine surgery.
With more than two decades of experience in the medical device industry, Niall is a seasoned executive and registered patent attorney known for his deep expertise in intellectual property, product development, and commercialization. His career spans roles at several prominent spine and orthopedic technology companies, including Alphatec Spine, Ellipse Technologies, NuVasive, and Johnson & Johnson’s DePuy Synthes Spine. Across these positions, he has led cross-functional teams, managed complex development programs, and supported the successful launch of innovative medical technologies.
