Adolph V. Lombardi Jr., M.D., is a total hip and knee replacement surgeon and President of JIS Orthopedics. Dr. Lombardi received his Bachelor of Science degree from Saint Joseph’s University, medical degree from Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, and residency training at Albert Einstein Medical Center. Dr. Lombardi pursued two Fellowships in Reconstruction of the Hip and Knee: one with Thomas H. Mallory, M.D. at Joint Implant Surgeons in Columbus, Ohio and the other with Gerard A. Engh, M.D. at the National Hospital for Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation and the Anderson Orthopaedic Institute in Arlington, Virginia. He joined the practice of Joint Implant Surgeons in 1987 and is now its president. Dr. Lombardi holds multiple patents related to instrumentation and implants. He is a surgeon designer of the Maxim Knee System and the Vanguard Knee System, the AVL Anti-Subluxation Rotating Hinge Knee, the Taperloc Complete Hip System and the Signature System in which patient-specific custom guides are generated from preoperative imaging studies. Dr. Lombardi’s special interests include efficiency optimization, minimally invasive surgical techniques for partial knee, total knee and total hip replacement, complex reconstruction and rapid rehabilitation protocols for faster recovery after surgery.
