Since early 2020, Phil Smith has been the CEO of 4D Medicine Ltd, leading the commercialization of the world’s first fully 3D printable, bioabsorbable polymers for medical device applications across musculoskeletal, soft tissue and particulate-based applications. Phil has successfully delivered profitable business growth in diverse sectors, including raising over $15 million in grant and equity funding and adding over $75 million in value to start-up ventures. His favorite management books include Stephen Covey’s “The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People” and Richard Whittington’s “What is Strategy and Does it Matter?”. Phil completed a Mechanical and Production Engineering Technician Apprenticeship before graduating with a degree in Materials Science, which qualified him as a Chartered Engineer. He gained an MBA with distinction from Warwick Business School. When not working, Phil enjoys gardening, walking Winnie the Labrador and cooking for his partner Katie.
