Beyond Gamma: The Future of Radiation Sterilization for Orthopedics

The orthopedic industry is undergoing significant change in the sterilization of implants and instruments. This session will provide an overview of electron beam and X-ray sterilization modalities; specifically, how they compare to gamma and instructions for how to switch between these modalities for sterilization, as well as microbiological and dose mapping considerations. We will also review how e-beam can effectively be used for orthopedics, along with why X-ray is the future, what those sterilization efforts look like, and how the industry will make the shift.
