Dr. Ali Kiapour is a scientist and engineer specializing in biomechanics and the development of advanced 3D-printed orthopedic implants. He is the Director of Biomechanics Research at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, and an Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston. With over 20 years of research and industry experience, his work focuses on the design, optimization, and biomechanical evaluation of additively manufactured implants for spine, joint, and extremity applications. Dr. Kiapour is a pioneer in this field and designed the first FDA-approved electron beam melting (EBM) 3D-printed titanium implant for spinal applications. His research integrates computational modeling with experimental validation to advance patient-specific implant design and improve clinical outcomes. He has received multiple prestigious awards and serves on the ASME/FDA committee for the development of standards in computational modeling of medical devices.
